DEWA celebrates Earth Day in Kidzania
Family fun day for employees, their children and participating schools
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) celebrated Earth Day 2011 (April 22), by organising a family fun day for employees, their children and participating schools at Kidzania, in The Dubai Mall.
Activities included arts and crafts workshops, painting, collective pledging, songs, plant-a-seed activity, environment reporting and broadcasting, creative recycling and an eco-fashion show in which the young models wore designs made from recycled products.
“The young play an important part in DEWA’s environmental strategy and we lay special attention to building conservation initiatives and campaigns that raise awareness and educate youth and children on the importance of energy conservation,” said HE Saeed Mohamed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA.
“It is through educating in an entertaining and memorable way that we will secure a sustainable and healthy world for generations to come.”
DEWA has also launched an on-line education club called the ‘Splashy and Sparky Club’ with ‘green’ content, represented by Dubai Electricity and Water mascots Splashy and Sparky.
“The DEWA Earth Day event in Kidzania was the perfect platform to reach out to the young audience with a variety of fun activities and disseminate our conservation tips and practical advice on how they can save electricity and water and safeguard the environment,” said Amal Koshak senior manager demand and tariff manager.
