EC Harris wins key contract in Qatar medical city
Hamad Medical Corporation worth $870m to see four facilities built
EC Harris has been awarded a contract for the development of the Middle East’s largest healthcare facility.
The Hamad Medical Corporation project, launched in 2003, costs $870m and the next phase will see four new facilities completed including a medical and rehabilitation hospital, an ambulatory and surgical centre, a women’s hospital and a complete teaching and research complex, which will cover a combined area of 2.5ha.
The buildings will be situated adjacent to the existing Hamad hospitals and HMC residential accommodation in the centre of Doha, on the site where the athlete village was located during the 2006 Asian Games.
EC Harris will provide project and programme management, design management and workforce planning services for the new complex. It will be responsible for overall leadership and co-ordination of the project, with input on areas ranging from the completion of design drawings through to assessing the number of staff that will be required once the project is complete.
