Law enforcers to come down on mall waste offenders
Dubai issues May deadline for compliance to waste segregation rule
Dubai Municipality has warned that action will be taken against malls found to not be segregating waste at source.
The Municipality issued a directive last year making it mandatory for all malls and supermarkets in the emirate to start implementing waste segregation in colour-coded bins.
Poor implementation of the rule saw the department extend the deadline to March 1st and warning that non-compliance by 1 May will result in action being taken against offenders.
"The parties concerned should submit monthly report on the quantity and quality of segregated wastes to the department. In case of violation, the articles of Local Order No 11/2003 will be applicable starting from May 1," said Abdul Majeed Abdul Aziz Al Saifaie, director of the Waste Management Department.
