Cofely Besix's Holsters named FM of the Year
Bart Holsters recognised for efforts on Dubai's Burj Khalifa project
Bart Holsters of Cofely Besix FM picked up the award for Facilities Manager of the Year at last night’s Facilities Management Middle East Awards.
It was the first award of the night for the company, with Holsters beating off competition from Mace Macro, MAF Dalkia and Power Group entrants as well as EFS’ Ahmed Al Azzawi, who was highly commended by the judges.
The award was among 14 presented at an event at the Westin, Dubai to honour, reward and recognise the industry’s achievements.
The judges noted that all the entries were of a particularly high standard, but Holsters stood out as strong and showed solid evidence of his achievements.
The winner was commissioned to carry out the technical maintenance on the Burj Khalifa, Dubai, a highly risk sensitive operation, and with the world watching, one that could not fail for fear of disrupting the operation of the building.
“I'm feeeling great" said Holsters. "It's a very good achievement that we got from three year's hard work. It was not that easy, it was a challenging client, but this has what has driven us to put the barrier very high.
"My staff were all very proud that I was nominated, so it's even better to win. We hope to get a lot more challenging projects, that's for sure -- to get the tallest building in the world, when it's built again.
"We'll hopefully get that project as well and I'll be surely there to do it," he added.
The judges added that credit was due to the FM responsible for keeping the building running from construction to handover to the steady state which it is at now, which acts as testimony to the strength of the outsourcing and FM industries.
