24 hours with Ryan Darnell
Ryan Darnell is executive director - services at Khidmah
6.00: As I’m usually woken up by either my three-year-old or one-year-old son, I never have to purchase an alarm clock again! I don’t get to see them most evenings, so I enjoy our mornings together.
7.00: Say goodbye to my family and head down the highway to the Khidmah head office.
8.30: Coffee in hand, I scan our CAFM dashboard to review our KPIs, approve any purchase requests and check for any incidents or complaints.
9.00: Get into a one-to-one meeting with our health and safety team who are working on, among other things, a new sustainability auditing tool.
10.30: Off to a meeting with Environmental Agency Abu Dhabi, an exciting client to talk to.
12.00: Drop back to the office for a client meeting with Aldar to review our project to integrate our CAFM systems.
13.30: Quick lunch at my desk while checking emails, and then drop down to the gym to get a 30-minute session in before the next meeting.
14.00: Directors’ meeting with our executive team to review our new corporate strategy and discuss our plans.
16.00: Drop into our call centre and sit in on a couple of our calls from clients. I take a couple of calls myself and enjoy the shock when our engineers get an outbound call from me!
19.00: Finish discussing with IFMA plans for speaking engagement at 2014 World workplace in New Orleans.
20.00: After checking a few more emails, I head home and see my wife, and also try to get some work done before getting into bed.
22.00: By this time, the budget spreadsheets are starting to make me go cross-eyed, and I finally decide to call it a night.
