5 Minutes with Lara Khosouz Finan
0.00 What does your role involve?
As the GM of a new company, my primary role is to establish and position Finan as a local provider of high-end, international standard services in TFM in Jordan. Hence, my role involves appointing ,and working closely with, key consultants to build and develop, in line with our vision, a business strategy, a corporate identity and internal capabilities and capacities that drives operational performance and also meets market demand.
1.10 What do you love most about your job?
I’m never bored, thanks to the continuous learning I get to do! It also gives me room for creativity in providing innovative solutions in a very challenging day-to-day operation. It provides me the opportunity of sharing, building and exchanging experiences with different stakeholders of different backgrounds and experiences.
2.10 Where do you see the industry in five years?
FM is still at its infant phase of its life cycle in Jordan, and has room for aggressive growth and new players. The key drivers are the urbanization and tourism projects that are taking place in Jordan and the region. We will witness fast changes in industry trends and patterns, standards, technology, profit margins, new challenges and rising demand on quality, sustainable and green solutions, which supply side has to meet in order to survive. It will also create job opportunities and open doors for new markets, i.e. institutions providing certifications in FM knowledge, skills and training, the main challenge of today’s industry.
2.45 What has been your most memorable project and why?
Honestly, each project is unique by itself and it has its own memories and challenges, regardless of its size. It’s like being a mother for several kids--regardless of your love, each one would require certain amount of care and attention, as each one has its own character, personality, attitude and stories. Anyhow, I will have many stories to be shared soon.
3.25 What is the most challenging thing about your job?
It is today’s FM industry challenge, which is to find and hire professional and skilled people that can deliver and balance projects’ requirements on quality, time and cost with managed risk and satisfied customers. So far, the people hired are extensively trained to deliver high quality service, in order to be able to meet clients’ satisfaction and keep complaints to a minimal level.
4.35 What do you like to do in your spare time?
I like to gain inner strength and relieve my mind by catching up with family and friends. I also love to travel.
