DLD attends Int'l Green Building Conference 2014
DLD delegation led by HE Sultan Butti Bin Mejren and Majida Ali Rashid
A delegation from the Dubai Land Department (DLD) headed by H.E. Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, director general, DLD, and Majida Ali Rashid, assistant director general, DLD and head of the Investment Management and Promotion Centre, attended this year’s edition of the International Green Building Conference 2014, which was held at the International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Singapore.
DLD's participation followed a formal invitation from the Singapore government for the organisation to be a key partner and official representative of the UAE state at the conference.
In response, DLD formed a party of senior officials and major stakeholders to attend and promote the concepts and practices of sustainable real estate in both countries.
"DLD's participation at this year's International Green Building Conference reflects the organisation's keenness in appearing at international property forums to increase the visibility of Dubai and the UAE at the global level," said Bin Mejren.
"This particular conference allowed us to showcase the sustainability standards DLD has developed which can be deployed globally, thereby enabling us to assert our leadership in many aspects of real estate regulation and sustainable buildings," he added.
DLD 's party, which comprised a number of other senior DLD officials, as well as members from the Ministry of Environment and commercial property development organisations, took part in a number of activities at the conference, which included panel discussions on the best practices organised by the United Nations Environment Programme and the role of governments and green building councils in promoting real estate sustainability.
"Our participation at these platforms is highly effective as it enables delegates to inform global participants about developments in Dubai's real estate market,” said Rashid. “These include new legislation and regulations issued by the government to ensure the sustainable growth of the sector.”
Fringe activities at the conference saw members of the DLD delegation meeting with senior staff from the Buildings and Construction Department of Singapore government to discuss joint cooperation ventures.
It was agreed during these meetings to launch combined initiatives that will serve both countries and help spread the concepts of sustainable buildings in the UAE and Singapore.
