Dubai Smart Government showcases successes at expo
Focused on government cohesiveness and smart infrastructure, Dubai Smart Government its latest achievements at the Dubai Government Achievements Exhibition 2015.
As part of the Dubai Government Achievements Exhibition 2015, the Dubai Smart Government Department (DSG) highlighted its recent achievements. DSG was recognised particularly for the success of its electronic payment services.
DSG’s ePay service, which brought in $1.9bn (AED 7bn) in 2014. The service also saw an increase of 16% in its operation and 25% in payments. Similarly, the government entity’s Mpay application, typically utilised for payment of fees for government transactions and services, has grown by 257% in terms of payments. Downloaded 92,000 times, the application has reached approximately $44.6mn (AED 164mn), reflecting a growth of 418% in 2014.
DSG has also contributed to the development of the infrastructure for smart government through the growth of a unified information network. Over 2014, 58 points of communication were created between government networks and semi-governmental networks.
“Our continuous success pushes us to further work on seriously elevating government services towards higher levels of excellence and raising the UAE's competitiveness worldwide in line with 2021 plan,” commented HE Ahmed bin Humaidan, director general for Dubai Smart Government department.
The Dubai Government Achievements Exhibition ran from the 30 March – 1 April, 2015. Hosted at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, the event’s theme was on Local Governments, Global Achievements. The event highlighted the latest initiatives and technologies related to smart government.
