Qatar highlights smart city initiatives at summit
The GCC nation will showcase its smart initiatives at the 4th Annual Arab Future Cities Summit Qatar 2015, which will run from 13-14 April 2015.
Qatar’s Smart City vision is set to be the central focus of the 4th Annual Arab Future Cities Summit Qatar 2015. The event, which will run from 13-14 April 2015, will be held at the Ritz-Carlton in Doha, Qatar.
The two-day summit will feature presentations and panel discussions on a number of topics related to smart city development. This will include efficient resource management, technological advancement and initiatives taken up by Qatari government entities, such as ICT Qatar and Qatar Rail.
Planned by global conference organiser, Expotrade, the event is expected to draw over 350 delegates from across the GCC’s public and private sectors.
Brad Hariharan, regional director, Expotrade Middle East, shares: "Qatar's increasing prominence in the GCC region, coupled with Doha's emergence as a true smart city of the future has ensured that this is the ideal environment to discuss the latest innovation and trends in smart city development.”
He adds: “Qatar's National Vision 2030 is a clear indicator of its commitment towards ensuring a smart, sustainable and efficient future for its citizens."
Notable participants at this year’s edition includes Huawei, Accenture, Ooredoo, Cisco, Intel and Microsoft, to name a few. Additionally, the Future Cities Lounge is expected to host over 30 exhibitors displaying the latest technologies for smart city development.
