Marc Esteve, Senior General Manager of Emerging Business, ETA FM
0.00 What does your role involve?
I manage the Emerging Business unit, which includes security services, landscaping, pest control, access services, fleet, camps and waste management. The division is comprised of 3,000 employees based in the UAE and Qatar, delivering daily services to Municipalities and private companies under several brands such as ESS, MBM and Zenath.
1.45 What do you love most about your job?
There are plenty of new opportunities on a daily basis, particularly with potential customers or even existing customers with extended requirements. If you teams is prepared and if you’re fast enough, you will definitely make an impact and establish yourself as a leader in FM. You will see the positive results of hard work and this can be a nice feeling.
2.05 What is the most challenging aspect of your job?
It takes quite a lot of creativity to build and implement the business models of these lines. From waste management and security, to fleet management, the challenges and expectations are vastly different. And each time you meet with division managers to discuss and implement strategy, it can prove to be an exciting challenge.
3.00 What has been your most memorable project and why?
My background is waste management, therefore I have a soft spot for this line of service. The company’s achievement in Al Ain in particular, through MBM-Dallah, has been commanding, as we operate the whole cycle of waste management, from segregative collection to engineered landfill. This includes medical waste collection and incineration, a crushing plant for demolition waste and incineration of fallen stock.
4.05 Where do you see the FM industry in five years?
With Expo 2020 on the horizon, this will undoubtedly translate to an increased demand for integrated FM companies with large resources and smart services. ETA FM provides self-delivery integrated hard and soft services, under one roof and a workforce of more than 17,000 employees. Add to this, an ambitious development of IT services that is reshaping the management of our contracts, we expect to find ourselves at the forefront of the region’s FM industry.
4.45 What do you like to do in your spare time?
My family and I lived in Dubai for 12 years, from 1997 to 2009. One of the things we missed was our desert outings with friends. Since we returned a year ago, we have caught up with the desert driving and camping.
