EmiratesGBC to review UAE green building practices
The organisation will be 'back-casting on the sustainable development framework of the UAE and the region' at its annual Congress this October
Emirates Green Building Council (EmiratesGBC) will discuss the UAE's achievements in sustainable development at the fifth iteration of its annual Congress, due to be held this October.
The EmiratesGBC Congress 2016 is to be held on 25 and 26 October in Dubai.
Regional and international experts from across the sustainable development industries will congregate to discuss green buildings.
EmiratesGBC Congress 2016's theme is 'UAE of the Future: Looking Backwards as a Way Forward'.
Remarking on plans for the event, Saeed Al Abbar, chairman of EmiratesGBC, said: "With this year’s Congress, we are back-casting on the sustainable development framework of the UAE and the region, whereby through discussions we envision future desired conditions for a green and sustainable urban environment.
"The Congress will then proceed to define the steps that are needed to achieve these goals.
"This is a path-breaking approach, whereby we do not merely continue the measures we have taken, but work towards tangible goals.
"We are confident that the Congress will serve as a referral point in shaping the new sustainable development narrative of the UAE, enabling the nation to achieve the goals of [the UAE's] Vision 2021," Al Abbar added, according to WAM.
