'Smart Mall' installed at Dubai Metro stations
Four metro stations have been fitted with the 9sqm smart screen that allows customers to select and pay for their purchase of goods such as foodstuff
Four Dubai Metro stations have been added to the list of facilities fitted with Smart Mall screens by the emirate's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
The Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Damac, Dubai Internet City, and Emirates Towers stations have been equipped with the screens.
Smart Mall has been rolled by the RTA in collaboration with Etisalat.
The service is delivered through a high-definition 3D screen spanning nine square metres, which allows two persons to process their transactions at a time.
Customers can make their purchases and pay using their credit cards through the screens, with the goods later being delivered at the time and location of their choice.
Future plans include the addition of payment through Nol cards or Etisalat mobile credit.
Remarking on the service, HE Mattar Al Tayer, director-general and chairman of the board of executive directors of RTA, said: "The expansion of the Smart Mall initiative follows the success of the first experience of the project, which started with the selling of foodstuff.
"More products will be added in the following phase, such as clothes and electronics.
"Two smart kiosks offering the same services would be in place to provide privacy to clients," Al Tayer added, according to Dubai Media Office.
