Oman's $6.7m construction and FM deals revealed
The sultanate's Tender Board awarded construction and consultancy deals worth $2.3m and $1.5m respectively, in addition to FM-related contracts valued at $2.9m
Oman's Tender Board awarded contracts worth $172m (OMR66.2m) at its sixth meeting for the year, including deals for construction, architectural engineering, consultancy, and facility management (FM) services.
Building-related contracts worth $6.7m (OMR2.6m) were awarded as part of the total value, a bulk of which included contracts in other economic sectors, such as healthcare, telecommunications, and education.
The following pages outline the contracts awarded by the Tender Board under each construction-related sector.
Construction contracts worth $2.3m (OMR901,602) were handed to build the Oman National Center for Blood Diseases and Marrow Transplantation at the Sultan Qaboos University Hospital (SQUH), worth $2m (OMR796,154).
A contract was also awarded to build a sports centre for Oman's Ministry of Sports Affairs in Dhofar governorate's Dalkut wilayat, valued at $273,890 (OMR105,448).
Meanwhile, consultancy deals worth $1.5m (OMR600,257) were confirmed for up to 10 developments in the sultanate.
Consulting-oriented deals awarded by the Tender Board include construction supervision contracts for 400 homes with internal roads and lighting worth $454,415 (OMR174,950), and 350 homes with internal roads and lighting, worth $173,150 (OMR66,663), in the Saham and Al Khabourah wilayats of North Al Batinah governorate respectively.
Within the residential sector, a $124,532 (OMR47,945) supervision contract for the Omani Ministry of Housing's 97 homes in Baushar wilayat's Al Awabi village was also awarded.
A $162,987 (OMR62,750) contract was awarded for the design and supervision of flood protection works at the College of Applied Sciences, and the nearby Sur wilayat, for the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources.
Moreover, a $46,233 (OMR17,800) contract was awarded to provide architectural engineering services for the resort at the Ministry of Tourism's Al Bustan Palace Hotel.
Additional design and construction supervision deals included a $103,161 (OMR39,717) contract for SQUH's upcoming centre, and a $78,498 (OMR30,222) contract for Public Authority for Electricity and Water's (PEWA) water distribution networks in the Al Buraimi governorate.
The Tender Board also awarded a $24,387 (OMR9,389) contract to extend SQUH's radiology and operations building, as well as a contract to expand PEWA's water distribution network in the Al A'mirat governorate, worth $66,103 (OMR25,450).
A contract was handed to provide consultancy services for the repair of lands in Musandam's Kamzar village, for the Ministry of Housing, worth $325,638 (OMR125,371).
FM-related contracts worth $2.9m (OMR1.1m) were also awarded by the Tender Board.
Operations and FM-related contracts awarded included a $2.1m (OMR832,720) deal to maintain and repair the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries' floating dock in Muttrah wilayat.
A $777,444 (OMR299,316) deal to provide logistics, catering, cleaning, washing, and pest control services for the Omani Ministry of Health's hospitals and facilities was also confirmed, ONA reported.
