SEWA and Dubai Municipality to collaborate on Rationalization Hour
Two municipalities to work together on the global Rationalization Hour initiative in the UAE
Dubai Municipality will support the Rationalization Hour initiative of Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA).
Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality signed a promise certificate during his meeting with a delegation from SEWA, headed by Eng. Ghada Juma, Director of Rationalization Department.
The two authorities exchanged ideas on load management during peak hours and the importance of rationing of consumption and media and marketing plans to encourage behaviors and methods for optimal use of energy and water.
SEWA presented its experience of the Rationalization Hour initiative launched by the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
As per the directive, a one hour slot (2.30pm to 3.30pm) of July 1, of each year is observed as Rationalization Hour.
This is done in order to raise the awareness of officials of government bodies and institutions, community leaders and individuals on the importance of electricity and water.
Lootah said: “We support policies aimed at increasing energy efficiency through the expansion of transport networks that will contribute efficiency in industrial and construction processes, and electricity networks, as well as the integration of energy efficiency and sustainability measures into the urban and regional planning process,” he said.
