District cooling services provider Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) has signed an agreement with Cityland Real Estate Development, an investment holding arm of Cityland Group to provide district cooling services to Cityland Mall, at Global Village in Dubai.
The total capacity provided by Empower will be 14,000 Refrigeration Tonnes (RT).
The agreement was signed by HH Sheikh Theyab Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, chairman of Cityland Group, and Ahmad bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, at the Cityland Mall Site Office.
The project, which will be having a total investment of $41m (AED150m) by Empower, will start commissioning from August 2018.
Tahnoon Al Nahyan said: "This significant agreement with Empower will drive environmental as well as economical returns while making a major impact on Cityland Mall. As the world’s first nature inspired shopping destination, the unique design and development of the mall will ensure environmental sustainability while being an attractive destination for residents and tourists.”
Shafar added: “We are proud to always be the first choice of the major real-estate developers as this reflects the trust in our services, which also prompts us to serve our customers with utmost priority. We are happy that we have been chosen to serve Cityland Mall with eco-friendly district cooling systems."
Cityland Mall will feature over 350 retail outlets, various dining options, a variety of entertainment offerings and an expansive ‘Central Park’ – a 18,580m2 (200,000ft2) botanical garden that will form the nucleus of the single-storey circular-shaped mall.
