Khidmah’s Ryan Darnell bids adieu
FM veteran decides to call quits on his decade-long stint in the Middle East
Khidmah executive director Ryan Darnell had stepped down from his position at the start of the year.
Back then Darnell had informed fmME that he would be taking up the mantle of Khidmah’s Saudi operations, as the firm looked to build a strong footing in the GCC’s largest country.
However, in a LinkedIn post this week, Darnell announced that he will return to his native Australia instead.
He said on the social network: “After 10 years of being in the Middle East, I have made the decision to move back to Australia to be with my family. For the last eight years, I am proud of what we have achieved at Khidmah with the facilities management division going from 195 staff reaching to 5,000 plus while winning multiple awards in the process.
“I have always tried to surround myself with a strong team who are not afraid to make mistakes on the road to achieve success. I will miss all of you very much and will continue to follow your careers from Australia.”
Darnell and Khidmah regularly occupied a spot in the top 10 of the annual fmME Power 50 rankings.
At this stage it is unclear what lies ahead for Khidmah’s Saudi venture, and the firm is yet to make a formal annoucement of its new business head in the UAE.
