Al Shirawi enters UAE solar energy space with JV
UAE-based conglomerate forms joint venture with Germany’s Gildemeister Energy Solutions
Al Shirawi Group has formed a joint venture with Germany’s Gildemeister Energy Solutions GmbH to advance the development and deployment of solar energy in the UAE.
The Gildemeister Al Shirawi Energy Solutions JV specialises in utility-scale projects and focuses on the planning, development and construction of turnkey free-space plants and their operations.
The new company will work hand-in-hand with the region’s project developers and investors for implementation of rooftop systems and other comprehensive solutions consisting solar applications, storage and e-mobile technology.
The JV brings global expertise in renewable energy into the UAE, thereby supporting the nation’s pursuits for a greener future.
It will also benefit the group’s complementary businesses in the construction sector, especially its facilities management arm that is set to play a leadership role in solar energy management.

Charalampos Sarafopoulos, general manager, Al Shirawi FM was instrumental in leading the group’s solar efforts, formalised the contract in the presence of Kremer and Moritz Wickert, head of energy systems, Gildemeister Energy Solutions at the recently concluded Intersolar Europe held at Munich, Germany.
The Würzburg-headquartered Gildemeister has carried out more than 8,000 installations in more than 40 countries.
It was awarded the ‘Best Practice Label’ for energy efficiency projects by the Deutsche Energie-Agentur (dena), the German Energy Agency. The company has also won Intersolar Awards.
