Cofely Besix FM retains Education & Development award
Transguard’s new $1m training facility earns it the highly commended award
Cofely Besix Facility Management (CBFM) took home the award for the Education & Development Initiative of the year.
CBFM was recognised for its ‘Partnership for Development’ initiative that involves FM skills transfer, which is specifically aimed at reaching out to blue-collar workers.
“Our aim was to target the largest sector of the UAE worker community, who do not have sufficient education to move up in their careers, and no clear path to developing new skills within companies. We partnered with two of the largest FM worker’s accommodation namely, Al Raha Operative and Labotel Workers villages, with a combined resident community of 25,000 workers,” said Ian Harfield, CEO, Cofely Besix Facility Management.
CBFM managed to retain its award after winning it last year for ‘Al Mareefa’, a purpose-built mobile training bus that provides on-site training to our staff.
CBFM further extended this facility to blue-collar workers resident at labour camps throughout the UAE.
The company says its long-term aim is to reach at least 10% of the resident population within the resident villages. While raising the level of awareness amongst blue-collar workers of core concepts from the FM body of knowledge.
Meanwhile, Nick Powell, UAE country manager Cofely Besix Facility Manager said: “It [winning the award] means a lot to Cofely Besix [FM]. We worked really hard in training and developing our team. People put a lot of effort into it. We have big aspirations for developing the industry. We plan to branch out into other countries in the GCC and continue our expertise in energy and technical services.”
