Dubai’s public beaches earn Blue Flag accolades
Blue Flag is a certification by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) that a beach, marina, or sustainable boating tourism operator meets its standards
Dubai public beaches have received the global accreditation of the Blue Flag programme for the 2018-2019 season as they met all the requirements that ensure compliance with its standards.
Blue Flag parameters such as sea water quality, environmental education, environmental management, public safety and services.
Dawoud Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality said: “The Blue Flag recognition is an affirmation of Dubai Municipality's commitment to make the beaches (Jumeirah 1, 2 and 3 beaches and Umm Suqeim 1 and 2 beaches) a tourist attraction and aesthetic destination, and a safe and world-class leisure outlet offering modern services and comfort and security aspects for all segments of the society."
He added that this is in addition to the series of achievements that the municipality has pursued to accomplish in all forums to raise the aesthetic and environmental values according the Dubai Government’s strategy.
The accreditation was granted by the Foundation for Economic Education (FEE) for one-season and is aimed at sustainable development of beaches and marinas.
