Five minutes with Michael Moore, Cushman & Wakefield
Michael Moore is the principal consultant at Cushman & Wakefield’s Saudi Arabia offices
What does your role involve?
I have a dual role within C&W, as operations director I take complete responsibility for the successful delivery of all operational contracts across Saudi Arabia. I am also the principal consultant and in this role I lead, coordinate and time permitting deliver FM consultancy services to clients across the GCC.
What do you love most about your job?
Having spent more than 36 years in the industry, I am able to draw upon this background to offer meaningful and innovative service to our clients across all property sectors and I really enjoy the variety of my job, with every day being different than the previous.
What is the most memorable project and why?
Cushman & Wakefield was appointed as FM Consultants on the Jeddah tower project (world’s tallest tower once complete) — as principal consultant I led the team and delivered a number of tasks including the architectural FM design review. I’m very honoured and proud to be involved in the history-making development.
Where do you see the FM industry in 5 years?
As an immature market it can be very difficult to convince clients of the long term benefits and cost savings that FM can bring but that said, I firmly believe that the next five years will see a massive growth in the recognition of FM as both a discipline and an asset management strategy. Energy and carbon management will have greater prominence for the FM industry going forward.
What is the most challenging aspect of your job?
Ensuring we have the right level of resource is a constant challenge. C&W also has a special approach in the region where we ensure appropriate subject matter experts are deployed to give the highest quality output. Fortunately, I have a pool of 45,000 staff worldwide that I am able to draw upon.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
My wife and I love to travel, to date we have visited more than 53 countries and have seen all of my ‘bucket list’ sights. We’re big Liverpool FC fans albeit mostly as armchair supporters, but we try to get to Anfield at least once a year.
