What does your role involve?
As area operations manager my primary role is to manage an assigned area of operations (with a strength of 900 staff) which includes Dubai Airports, Al Tayer Group, Dubai Investment properties, Emirates Refineries, FedEx & TNT etc. I also build on customer relationships, winning new business, overseeing HSE practices, implementation of new technology and staff training are some of my responsibilities within Berkeley.
What do you love most about your job?
The service industry is always under the microscope in terms of demand of service quality. In this scenario addressing each challenge and successfully providing solutions has given me immense confidence and happiness. I would like to thank my management in giving me the freedom to be flexible in dealing with customers.
What is the most memorable project and why?
Berkeley Services has a division to provide services to event management organisations and the division is also under my responsibility. We have been managing major events like Dubai Air show and Dubai Rugby which involves staff deployment ranging between 300 – 480 staff.
Where do you see the FM industry in 5 years?
We am witnessing automation coming into the FM sector and these are replacing labour intensive works. I believe this industry will be moving towards improving efficiency, productivity and processes thereby giving value services and cost reduction to the client.
What is the most challenging aspect of your job?
Industrial cleaning is an extremely challenging job as it requires deep skills and knowledge. The nature of the job is such that it requires different skills, knowledge and equipment for every job that we execute. Training and retaining the staff has been highly challenging.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
My relaxation includes spending time with family, friends and travelling.
